They think it’s all over …
May 22, 2024 Mrs Rushford

Well, we made it to the end of our three day excursion to Mersea Island.  The weather wasn’t always kind but we definitely had a fantastic time.

After a rather damp final night under canvas, we rose to a hearty breakfast of bacon rolls  and then packed our bags, reunited as many lost pairs of socks with their owners as we could and said a fond farewell to our camping ‘village’.  We then embarked on our final two activities.  The first event was the last of the carousel of activities we have all been completing across the three days – some completed rock climbing, others did adventure courses, team challenges and the low ropes course.  It is great to be able to say that all the children had a go at absolutely everything – even when a little nervous (as when doing the zip wire or the climbing wall) everyone tried their hardest to overcome the challenges they faced.

After a brief break, we moved over to a challenge none of us had seen during our stay – the ‘It’s a Knockout’ inflatable arena.  This group of giant inflatables created a series of challenges and games in which the children competed against each other.  Games included ‘Gladiators’, ‘Bumble Bee’, the obstacle course and others.  The children had an amazing time and this really finished off a brilliant few days away.

The staff at Mersea Camp frequently complimented our group on their determination to try everything and really have fun.  Well done to all the children and a huge thank you from the Holland Park staff (Miss Campbell, Mrs Whitbread, Mr Utley and myself) to the children for being an absolute pleasure to take away.
