Highest priority is given to ongoing Assessment for Learning which takes place before, during and at the end lessons to ensure that it informs planning. Techniques include:
- pre-assessment quizzes,
- concept mapping,
- class discussions,
- low stakes testing,
- targeted questioning
- peer and self assessments
Teachers must be highly responsive to this information and ensure learning is reshaped and misconceptions addressed in a timely manner.
Learning is also assessed against key knowledge and skills on the progression maps and these are recorded on the school tracking system. The data generated by this tracking will provide an overview of standards, inform future learning, support effective monitoring by subject leaders and inform SLT decisions about CPD and the allocation of resources.
