On Thursday 12th January 2023, Year 4 spent the day at Colchester Castle as part of our history unit on the Romans. The children enjoyed looking around the gallery area at all the wonderful exhibits and even tried dressing up in Roman villager clothes! They also tried their hand at building two types of homes: the round house and the Roman house. This was quite challenging but they managed it…eventually! The children particularly enjoyed going down some rather tricky steps into the Roman foundations where they listened to a Castle staff member tell them lots of interesting facts about the history of the castle and what happened to it.
This was a great trip from which Year 4 has benefitted greatly.
