Childhood illnesses - NHS Guidance

To help parents decide whether they should allow their child a day off school when poorly, The NHS has
produced guidance on common illnesses. This guidance is available via NHS – ‘Is my child too ill for school?’
webpage and underpins our decision on whether the reason provided for absence is to be authorised.

Headlice Advice

According to a recent newspaper article, research suggests that around 10 percent of pupils in a school have nits, which in an average primary school is about 40 children at any one time. Damp, warm weather and an increasing resilience to conventional treatments is to blame for the outbreak, according to one expert. In our attempts to reduce the problem within Holland Park School, we asked for some advice from ACE to pass onto parents. They have provided us with a leaflet – click on the blue button below to view. Please help us to tackle this problem – check your child’s head on a weekly basis and treat in accordance with the advice. Thank you for your co-operation.

The Resource Vault (Children’s Society)

The Children’s Society website is an absolute treasure-trove of information with just about everything young people need to know about emotional and mental health. Called the Resource Vault, the resources are organised by age group. Each entry has further links about where to find more information. Although aimed at young people themselves, its a good resources for parents and staff working with them to dip into.
