This half term Year 5 are learning about Forces in Science. Last week we investigated one of the main forces, which is gravity. We discussed that when you first release a parachute, the force of gravity pulls it downward, and the parachute speeds toward the ground. The faster the parachute falls, though, the more drag it creates. Our new learning this week was air resistance. This is the upward force acting on the parachute. To reinforce our understanding we created our own parachutes that were range of sizes enabling to measure the impact of air resistance.
